Summer in AZ

Yes. It's hot. But it's a dry heat.

How to survive an Arizona summer. A series.

#1 Get in the water.

)Whether it's a pool, a river, a lake...the bathtub...or any other body of water in the beautiful state of AZ, just GET IN! Our lakes in AZ are amazing! Lake Pleasant is one of my favorites, with a ton of activities including boating, kayaking, fishing, SUPing, scuba diving, and the World's Largest Floating water slide! Check out all of your options: https://www.visitpeoriaaz.com/things-to-do/lake-pleasant!

With nearly a dozen other lakes around the state, there is always something to do in your neck of the woods. Check it out: https://www.arizona-leisure.com/arizona-lakes.html and enjoy all that this beautiful state has to offer. You will not be disappointed!

If pool time is what you want, there are a ton of resorts in Arizona as we are pretty much the "golf course and resort capital of the country" and we take pride in offering hundreds of options for people to lay by the pool and just chill. Many of the resorts offer day passes and or discounted summer rates, so find an area you want to stay in (or staycation in) and GET IN the water. There is also a company called Resort Pass that works with most of the local resorts and offers day passes or cabana rental. Check it out: https://www.resortpass.com/

The Grand Canyon. Take it next level and visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World and experience the Grand Canyon and the amazing white water rapids. We did! Ken and I rafted the white water rapids of the Grand Canyon this month and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I will never forget it. The views of the canyon, the stars at night, hiking to the waterfalls, sleeping on the beach...the list goes on. We did a 4-day trip into the canyon and experienced all of the above. The hikes to the waterfalls were my favorite. Nature is amazing and so incredibly beautiful! The rapids of the Grand Canyon are one of the only exceptions to the typical rating scale, using a rating of 1 to 10 in the Grand Canyon because the rapids are so intense and widely varied. While we didn't come across any that were on the highest end of the scale, we did experience level 5 rapids that absolutely take your breath away (that could be because you are nearly submerged in water and can't catch your breath! LOL). It was intense, exhilarating, terrifying, and amazing all at the same time! If you are up for it, give it a try! We did a trip out of Fort Tuthill for active/retired military, so if you are in that very elite group check it out: https://forttuthill.com/ Otherwise, there are a ton of other companies that will take you down the river. Literally.

Whatever you do to stay cool, have fun, be safe, and wear sunscreen!! Oh, and grab a cocktail!

I'll see you there!

XOXO

Emily
